Peel Environmental hosted a delegation from Korean South-East Power Company on a fact finding mission to the UK.  Peel arranged a visit for 19 delegates to Drax Power Station near Selby in North Yorkshire.

The group had a site tour and heard how Drax upgraded half of its generating units to use sustainable biomass instead of coal to become the UK’s biggest single site renewable power generator alongside its trial project to utilise CO2 with carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS)

Delegates learnt how Peel has worked with Drax’ by supporting its supply chain through the development of the new biomass handling terminal at the Port of Liverpool.   The facility is state of the art and can load up to 10 biomass trains a day.

The delegation came to the UK to meet only with Peel and Drax before heading to mainland Europe to visit sites in France and Germany.
