A former sand quarry infilled with inert, commercial and construction and household wastes which has been redeveloped for residential uses.
Location
The site located on the A57 in the City of Salford, Greater Manchester.
Planning Permission Status
Outline Planning permission was granted subject to conditions in 2008.
Further Information
The site was subject to mineral extraction to a depth of between 15 and 20m with the void subsequently infilled between 1963 and 1990.
In 2008 Peel were successful in securing outline planning permission for the development of 262 residential apartments alongside a 450 space Park and Ride scheme with residential parking located around and beneath the development following a call in planning enquiry Planning permission was successful following the mitigation of risks associated with a former landfill site including the presence of residual landfill gases, geotechnical, geological and hydrogeological issues.
Peel worked closely with the regulatory authorities including Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA), Minerals and waste planning unit, the Environment Agency and Local Authority departments including Planning, Highways and Environmental Health.
The development of the site was completed in 2010.
