Further information

The site has been partially extracted of sand and gravel reserves with area of the quarry restored by a national waste management company through the importation and landfill of  non hazardous waste site.

Mineral extraction operation was resurrected at the site in 2015 to recover sands that were not pursued by the original operator or that were sterilised by on-site plant and processing equipment. The quarry operations are producing sands for the construction industry from the Sherwood Sandstone stratum.

Restoration of the site is proposed through landfilling of approximately 500,000m3 of inert construction and demolition wastes to create amenity grasslands with ecological enhancements for flora and fauna.
